Yellow Trout Lily
Scientific Name:Erythronium americanum


NOTES: Spring ephemeral, not flowering for the first four to seven years of its life. Anther color usually brick red, less often yellow. Seeds have fatty appendages (elaiosomes) which attract ants that disperse seeds. Spread slowly to form colonies, some 200-300 years old. Lily family (bulbous herbs with a superior ovary).
