Yellow Buckeye

Scientific Name:   Aesculus flava


Smooth husks, encasing 1-3 shiny, poisonous seeds. Yellow-green flowers. Prefers moist, well-drained, acidic soils. MADBUCK (Maple, Ash, Dogwood, and Buckeye) mnemonic useful for remembering Ohio's four native trees with opposite leaves/branching.
